As Founder and Creative Director of Underground Communications, Karen Porter is passionate about ensuring her team deliver communication, connection and community development to help conscious businesses achieve their goals.
By working collaboratively with clients and suppliers, she is able to deliver strategic communication programs that develop and build sustainable business relationships. These programs encompass areas such as direct communication, media relations, content creation, and community outreach, to name a few.
I asked Karen the following questions regarding transcription (and its importance) within her business:
1. Can you briefly describe your business industry and what it involves?
We are a boutique full-service B2B PR agency specialising in communication strategies across media relations, community relations, CSR, direct communications, events and social media.
Our agency is built on values of sustainability in business, respect for others and ensuring that we create a positive impact on everyone who is touched by our organisation and those we work for. We work collaboratively with our clients to create quality content, increased brand awareness and improved business relationships. By focusing on client goals in terms of communication and engagement outcomes, we are able to provide a tailored strategic plan that helps them communicate with existing and potential customers as well as build a positive reputation for their business.
2. What is the importance of transcription within your business?
We have to write a lot of articles, blogs, case studies and media releases, a lot of which involve us interviewing either a client or third party organisation. By having these interviews transcribed, we have a digital copy of the transcript that makes it easy for us to incorporate accurate quotes within our articles and other document outputs.
3. Can you briefly explain the benefits of transcription to your business?
As well as having a written record of an interview that we can easily file and refer to, having the interview transcribed cuts down the time needed to get these words down on “paper”, meaning that we can easily and quickly produce our work to the very strict deadlines that we have to adhere to.
4. What do The Transcription People do well or what keeps you coming back?
Being able to transcribe multiple voice recordings in a timely fashion means that we have a very clear picture of not just the answers an interviewee provided, but it’s kept in the context of the question asked. Because TTP specialise in this area it means the documents produced are more valuable for ongoing work that can sometimes be in progress for months.
5. What could The Transcription People do better or offer?
At this time, the services offered by TTP fit our needs perfectly, however we’re always keen to learn of new innovations and ideas.
