Ever wondered what its like working as a transcriptionist?
We engage a number of contractors who are able to maintain their employable skills while at the same time raising their children, taking on work that they can do from home, that fits with their family’s schedule as a transcriber for TTP.
If you’ve ever thought about whether it would be right for you, read on for our chat with one of our most experienced, loyal and valued contractors Rochelle.
It can be long term
A lot of people are concerned that they mightn’t be able to stick to it for a long time, but I’ve contracted to The Transcription People for seven years, so its definitely something that you could do long term.
It makes me feel valued
Often working from home can be quite isolating, but working with TTP makes me feel appreciated for my commitment to the business, the quality of my work and my reliability.
I can fit it around my family commitments
TTP offers very flexible work hours that I can fit around my commitments to my school-aged children. I never have to miss a swimming carnival or performance in assembly and I’m able to pick my children up from school and be with them every afternoon. That means a lot. Transcribing for a diverse range of clients also keeps the work varied and interesting.
Sometimes its unpredictable
It would be lovely to know exactly when work was going to come in each week or be able to say how much I wanted and when and know that it would be there. Unfortunately that’s not the nature of the business and sometimes there’s not enough work and sometimes probably a bit more than I would like. Generally, however, there’s a pretty happy balance.
As a contract-based business, TTP is pleased to offer flexible employment to people who prefer not to work full-time, and we’re pleased to see that this arrangement helps Rochelle to keep her home-based commitments to her family. We’re also thrilled to see that she feels appreciated and finds the work interesting.
