We do not have a file size limit, however the speed of upload is dependent on your own ISP speed and the amount of audio you are uploading at any one time.
Transcription is the conversion of spoken word to text; a written or printed version of speech.
Transcription typically takes between three to four times the audio file length. For example, 60 audio minutes should take approximately three to four hours to transcribe (not including proofreading time). However, many factors can affect the speed of transcription: poor audio quality, speakers’ accents, and background noise, to name a few.
The Transcription People can transcribe any file types. However most compatible for transcription software are: .mp3, .mp4, .wma, .dss, .ds2 and .wav (Note: .wav files can be extremely large and affect the upload/download speed).
Yes. The Transcription People does not outsource any aspect of transcription or proofreading work offshore. All of our transcriptionists and proofreaders are Australian based.
The Transcription People transcribes audio from all industry types. Any audio that is recorded, is, and can be, transcribed.
Yes. Our transcriptionists have signed and adhere to a strict confidentiality agreement. All audio files and transcriptions in the company of our transcriptionists and proofreaders are deleted upon confirmation of client receipt.
All audio files and transcriptions are archived on the TTP main server.
The Transcription People is cost-effective, not ‘more expensive’. We work on a 24-hour turnaround based on 60 audio minutes or less on our normal rates, rather than on a premium like our competitors. We also provide proofreading as part of the normal rate and not as an extra service. Our fee includes compiling client terminology documents for our team, to ensure future consistency and quality.
Upon sign-up with The Transcription People, you will be provided with your own unique login username and password whereby you can upload your audio to your own account on our secure server.
We do not have a file size limit, however the speed of upload is dependent on your own ISP speed and the amount of audio you are uploading at any one time.

Yes. We can time code any intervals throughout the transcription that you require.
Yes. We often transcribe material from CD or DVD via the post.
Transcription accuracy is only as good as the audio quality. Our service includes proofreading, whereby an independent person listens to the audio whilst carefully checking the transcription. We do not ‘guess’ place names or uninterpretable words – we will insert a timestamp if we cannot interpret words.
Just as you are trusting The Transcription People to create an accurate transcription, we also trust that new clients will make payment. Unfortunately, as this has not always been the case in the past, we ask for the first transcription job to be paid in full, upfront, to establish a trusting relationship with our clients. All transcription work thereafter is billed on a weekly basis with seven-day terms.
It is not necessary to be geographically close to a transcription service as most transcription businesses operate purely ‘online’.
We recommend for small or one-off-type transcription jobs a VA would be far more cost-effective, however at The Transcription People we specialise in multi-speaker transcription and a majority of our clients upload numerous files at any one time. In these circumstances a team of transcriptionists works well for turnaround requirements.
